Yes and No.

Yes, as a replacement for the Disco 5. Yes as something to use on tarmac, especially when the 500bhp+ SVR version arrives. Yes as something that looks (somewhat) different to all the other McGovern blobs.
No, as a replacement for the Defender. No as a vehicle for multiple, utilitarian applications. No for pricing. No for heritage. No for character. No for overlanding. No for a group meet. No for an Instagram account.....etc etc etc.

Thumbs Up Monsieur Le Grenadier

I've not been everywhere, but it's on my list.....

No, because it's a re-styled Discovery/Range Rover Sport that no longer looks like a Defender or any of its predecessors and is no longer distinctive.

I don't know as I haven't seen one yet and invariably any vehicle looks different in the flesh from how it appears in photos.

However I can't afford one, so whether I like it or not is somewhat irrelevant.

Already aired my views in previous posts, it is in no way a replacement for the utility Land Rovers Series 1 to 3, 90/110/ Defender up until 2015/16. And therefore should not carry the badge.

If I wanted a "modernised" Defender I probably would have stuck with my old Discovery as that's what you end up with, and you see I think that's the problem with trying to update something that was so individual/different and long standing, it doesn't really work... but that said they could have done a much better job by focusing more on utility market than the now flooded SUV premium Mad market.

This is of course my opinion and do not want to argue about it anymore, it was getting nasty on here (luddite branding and totally damning the old Defender amongst a few) which was uncalled for and frankly childish... I will not be buying anything from LR anymore, so definite no from me.

Merry Christmas to all Thumbs Up

Mike

No, very simply because we can’t use the new one for the same purpose as my current 110 - or indeed the 110 being built for us by IRB Developments.

The new one is simply not big enough inside to do what we need, despite being huge externally.

There are lots of other things I don’t like about the new one, but if it can’t do the same fundamental job as the older model then in my view is that the new Defender is irrelevant.

But then I’m probably not representative of what JLR want as a customer. Dave

Many have said the same. Hence my question here: https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic70361.html WARNING.

Yes, but the Land Rover 90/110 - Defender was based on a Range Rover Classic chassis with its transmission and axles with a Land Rover body 2017 Range Rover L405 Vogue SE V8 Diesel #16

Yes, and if I wanted a utility, I would go for any of the Japanese 4 cabs which have saturated the market ,
assume LR knows that is now a very competitive space which they will not be able to take on from a cost

If it’s that competitive, why bother, I know I wouldn’t - far more profitable for LR to concentrate on harvesting a wealthier market where the money is with customers that are prepared to pay more. 2017 Range Rover L405 Vogue SE V8 Diesel #16

I was expecting a much wider split on this poll.

If I was Land Rover I would take that as a good job done from a poll result from this forum so early on in its release. 110 MY23.5 X Dynamic HSE
