To replace the headlamp ??
Been a few topic on the issue,, biggest problem, to be legal, they must self level, and have a pressure wash system, so for me, not worth the effort,, fit a pair of Xenons drive lamps !! I find led lights horribly irritating, they seem to flicker and jump around, I have done some research and it may be due to my being colour blind and the pure single wavelength light produced. There is lots of debate in the sailing fraternity regarding led nav lights as they give a false location reference when scanning horizon, the CAA FAA will not permit them on aircraft. Unfortunately the motor industry is driven by manufacturers who consider image over functionality.
Daylight running lights are not a problem as these do not act as the visual reference, because the brain gets its reference from the whole vehicle not just the spots of light. 130 Puma HCPU with an Artica 240LR Demountable Camper |

Im sure the EASA will probably allow LED lights in the future, they had a similar hard lined stance on GPS in the early days.
Im not sure about the effects of colour blindness - i know my class one medicals check for colour blindness - i have always imagined it would stop you being a pilot if you were - im not so dont have that problem. Mike |
