Has anyone been on this maintenance course, and if so, how relevent was it?

Not been on it so can't answer the question, but to me it seems expensive. If you build up a relationship with your local independent they will most likely let you help them with things like general service items, wheel bearings, brake pads etc. In my experience they appreciate the fact you show an interest. I've learnt plenty from doing that, and the cost is nothing really since you'd be paying for a service anyway. In years gone by I've offered to help out at indy garages on a saturday which is evrything from helping take out an engine to making the tea.

I guess if you are time-poor though then a course might be the way to go.

If you are in lancashire I can help you with indys and learning stuff.
