How annoying when you don't get the final fix of the problem described. Id say it was the Ignition switch which is a really bad design in the Defender. They seem to burn out or get very intermittent. If when it cuts out you can restore for a while by turning the key off and back on again Id say it was the 3 position switch at the end of the barrel. VCV faults are normally temperature dependent and normally play up when cold (sticking) so I would doubt it was this.
I have a similar problem now that is getting worse so ill get to the bottom of it and post it on here. "You are never to old to learn something new" |

DOH! Yes right at the bottom of page 2. Sorry. That's quite a major fault and not a simple job to put in a new high pressure fuel pump.
It doesn't seem to be the same fault I'm experiencing as all my instruments die when mine cuts out so it's definitely electrics . fiddling with the ignition switch brings it back to life but not for long. "You are never to old to learn something new" |
