Tdci heater wiring into 300tdi loom
Hello all,

I have fitted a tdci bulkhead to my 300tdi. Loom has been extended to fit. And all good, however, I have two plugs on the Puma heater box to wire in. Can anyone give me some guidance on this please. Thanks

The two connectors are for the motor and the resistor pack.

Are you using the Tdci heater switch pack?  1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

TDI 300 has three spade connector to heater speed control

you need plug and pins for the TDCI heater control and make loom adaptor

tdi 300 three spade connector for heater speed control behind dash left hand side steering wheel and TDCI heater control in centre of the dash

also are you using post 07 heater or old heater box and motor Question

OK here we go!

On the heater box, 2 pin plug is the fan (blower)

Pin 1: Path to ground via switch pin 5 and resistor pin 3 (brown/red, 2 connections)
Pin 2: "AUX" (key position 1) 12V supply from White/Orange ignition switch terminal via 30A fuse

The 3 pin plug is the resistor

Pin 1: Ground path from switch pin 2 for Speed 1 (blue)
Pin 2: Ground path from switch pin 4 for Speed 2 (black/brown)
Pin 3: Output to blower fan and also connected to switch pin 5 (brown/red, 2 connections)

The 5 pin plug for the switch is as follows:

Pin 1: Ground (black)
Pin 2: To Resistor pin 1 for Speed 1 (blue)
Pin 3: not connected
Pin 4: To Resistor pin 2 for Speed 2 (black/brown)
Pin 5: Direct ground path to blower fan for Speed 3 and also to resistor pin 3 (brown/red, 2 connections)

FYI the join/splice A495 shown on the blue wire is where the switched earth from the air con fan control relay is joined (so speed 1 kicks in with the air con button pressed).  1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

So, the Tdi purple/green is the fused aux feed to the fan, this can supply the 2 pin Puma fan connector on pin 2.

The black at the Tdi fan switch is earth and can go to pin 1 of the 5 pin Puma switch connector.

You currently have 2 wires from the Tdi switch to the fan. You can use these but you need to add an extra one of 2.5mm2 cross section but it has to connect 3 items.

Wire 1 (e.g. Green/Yellow) - used in place of BLUE Tdci speed 1 wire. Goes from pin 2 of Puma switch to pin 1 of Puma resistor
Wire 2 (e.g. Green/Slate) - used in place of BLACK/BROWN Tdci speed 2 wire. Goes from pin 4 of Puma switch to pin 2 of Puma resistor
Wire 3 (new one) - used in place of BROWN/RED Tdci speed 3 wire/resistor output. Goes from pin 5 of the Puma switch to pin 2 of the Puma fan connector, and also to pin 3 of the Puma resistor.  1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top
