These tyres are off my D3. I was running Cooper STT's and decided for my Morocco trip to change. I did not like the way the full laden D3 handled on the BFG's, so switched them for the Cooper STT PRO, as they don't do the STT anymore. I found the fully laden D3 handled much better on the STT PRO's.

I tried to convince the wife to put them on her 90, but she wants the 16 inch Bowlers, and doesn't like the 18's.

When they were fitted, it felt like the tyres were flat, as the car wallowed on the road. I pumped the tyres up to 50PSI, and no change. As soon as I put the STT's on the handling was transformed. The was no change to the laden weight of the car, so was a direct comparison. In my opinion the side wall strength of the STT's are much better than the BFG's.

I've just fitted the same tyres (BFG) and have experienced the same wallowing. You don't notice after a week or so. You do notice the much better road handling, both wet and dry though.

Must say, I preferred the road handling of my ST Maxx. My BFGs are really struggling in the wet now (as per today, a number of cheeky four-wheel drifts). They’re still a few MMs off needing to be changed, so I’m wondering if they were an older aged set before fitting when new. Interested to hear about the STT Pro as I’ll be looking at a new tyre soon. Was considering the Maxx again or maybe the Cooper Zeon as I need a good road-biased tyre. But it will mean forking out twice as I’ll have to but some full winter tyres as I don’t think Maxx or Zeons are snowflake. Monsieur Le Grenadier

Exactly the same experience on my old bfg currently have hancook ventus st on which are superb in the dry and awesome in the wet but looking at some grabber at3 for a winter set as snowflake marked and a bit chunkier for the snow

I fitted “COOPER DISCOVERER A/T3 4S” last November and I’ve been really happy with them. They excelled when we drove to Munich last Christmas and encountered some serious snow. They’re probably more road biased, but they have decent tread and the snowflake symbol. They’re good in the wet and off-road, but are only ok when it’s really icey. 2011 CSW XS 90 |

If you put some 18" Bowlers or Twisted rims with the tyres I'll happily swap for some 16in Bowlers James

Alas, I was in jest, suggesting a straight swap 18in Bowler (or Twisted) for 16in. Unfortunately, having just got new rims and tyres for the tdi and new ss exhaust for the V8, I can't be buying new rims for the puma James
