Any reason why I shouldn't remove it? I'm talking about the rubber thing marked here in a picture from dorsetsmith
Click image to enlarge The reason I ask is that when I've cleaned it out it seems to last less than a month before getting bunged up again. Removing it won't alter the amount of stuff flowing in to the engine bay, but will stop it backing up in the air inlet box. I think. Edit: I should add that it's actually been out already for a few weeks because I forgot to put it back in again. |

With a snow cover installed, nothing will enter that can block that rubber drain.
But I would like to check a similar rubber drain that seems to be installed above the gearbox somewhere as drain for the airco condensation, and I just cannot locate it when lying under the truck and try to find it... So what's the point of it then?
If I'm driving along a really dusty track will it suck any more dust in? Might actually make it less dusty I guess! |

I take mine out in the winter to help drain any water away and also helps to make the heater more efficient by allowing warm air to be sucked in from the engine bay. In the summer (if we have one) I put it back in place to reduce the air flow from the engine bay and make the air con more efficient. Probably a placebo effect but it works for me.

I think it's purpose is to stop water being sucked in when wading in deep water, while letting after out that gets in from above. However, I think by the time the water is that high it will have come into the cab via the door seals etc... Cheers Simon |

An old thread, but thank you. Windows were misting up at the weekend. I've just removed that bit of rubber and a lot of water came out. I'll leave it out now.
