Looking forward to hearing and seeing this around the Shropshire Hills Just because you're offended doesn't mean you're right.

Thanks all, will hopefully have an update this week once the steering bits arrive.
A friend ran the same setup inc 80" rear prop in his FreeRanger (no prizes for guessing what it is) for a few years in hill climbs etc without any problems so I'm hoping it'll be up to it. I'll try and get away with the longest prop I can for the rear, but the Salisbury will already knock 2" ish off the length. 1985 127 V8 Build Thread Series 2 109" Series 1 80" |

Well an update / change of direction....
In the end it took me much longer to get back a reasonable starter of fitness than expected. Turns out you're tired all the time and the very nice consultant tells you politely that you're an d**k for doing to much and not resting. Anyway not all bad news, it's given me plenty of time to think things over. In short, 110 will be sold, 130 (127) purchased and the 88" kept slightly more original. Here's my logic; The 127 (1986) is a factory 3.5 V8 and the 4.6 would be much more usable in a 130 than an 88" S1, power steering, coil springs n that! I found the correct 4x2 front axle casing and stub axles that the 88" would have originally been fitted with and as very few 4x2 models were ever built (probably because they were naff) it seemed a great shame not to use them. Click image to enlarge So the 3.5 V8 from the 130 will go in the 88" with a S2/3 gearbox and the 4.6 V8 and R380 will go in the 130 (separate build thread on its way). All in all a simpler and probably safer way forward. More updates to follow as soon as I've finished helping Dad with his projects! 1985 127 V8 Build Thread Series 2 109" Series 1 80" |

Nice work. Good plan to keep it 4x2. When I did mine back in the early 00's I thought about a v8. I wish I had now. Anyway here's mine.............

Lovely 4x2! Mine is '235 FUV' it seems there's no pattern to the issuing of the 'FUV' plates from what I've found so far. 1985 127 V8 Build Thread

Thanks. Ill be following your build with interest then. Yes random would be a a fair description. Do you still have the military ID? Mine was 07 CE 27 and somehow the plate was still affixed to the bulkhead. 1984 One-Ten CSW

Here’s my 4x2, I also considered a V8 when I first rebuilt it ten years ago but
Click image to enlarge I was given a 2.5 with an ACR SU conversion. I recently added an ACR branch manifold with a custom built exhaust. I’m now having bad thoughts about sending my spare engine to ACR to be bored out to 2.8l with stage 2, 1:9 head..... Click image to enlarge Mine was converted to 4x4 before I owned it and I’ve no desire to revert😊 |

A friend of mine (now sadly deceased) had two 4x2 Series Ones, both converted to 4x4, but both with FUV registration numbers. Euro-Leafing to infinity and beyond.....
