OK so it seems the NC500 is back on...
We have had fun sorting different accommodation out on the route but now its sorted, Car has just been serviced, new oils etc and it needed a rear caliper... so good job this was done. Turns out assuming we make John O'groats then the Defender would have been at Lands End and John O'Groats in less than a year and a whole lot of places in between... With help of a forum member managed to sort the roof rack, fun getting the box on apparently this is a large roof box.... could fit another on the front part of the roof |

I had to buy an extendable ladder to make use of the roof box, it's a long way up!
Good luck, have fun and look forward to seeing some photos. What are your dates? Will keep an eye out. Don't be shy of asking for help if anything happens - though it does sound as if you've got things ship-shape. Donald

For sure everything is open as Electric Vehicle Man on YouTube was live streaming from his self catering accommodation last night - he was amazed that once he was across the border he got free car charging and that the chargers he looked into using were all working! He’s test driving the new Kia Soul for a week up there. The one with 260 miles range. Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come
2020 D240 1st Edition in Pangea Green with Acorn interior. Now gone - old faithful, no mechanical issues whatsoever ever but the leaks and rattles all over the place won’t be missed! |

It is a Avenir Idaho 2 with home made trailer board for the tail lights only as they are partly covered by the bike wheels.
I have a britpart copy of a mantec wheel carrier and this allows the door to fully open with the bikes on. I think I have an extra strap holding it on than it comes with. |

Just remembered I added an Avenir Vermont Middle Grab Arm Bike Holder to hold the outer bike away from the inner one too.

Just recieved this months copy of Land Rover Monthly in the post and its come with a copy of Drive 25 - 25 Greatest Drives in the UK and Abroad. Number 1 on their list - drive the North Coast 500.
Its on my bucket list to do, and I've now added the South West Coastal 300 and the North East 250 to the list as well. Sadly I dont think it will happen in 2020, but never say never 2007 - Stornoway Grey 90 XS SW - Gone 2002 - Black Discovery II - Gone 2014 - Montalcino Red 110 XS SW |

So now it’s well and truly spoiled if it’s recommended in a Land Rover magazine. Been spoiled for years, since they created the theme. Used to drive it twice a year for work and was paid for it.
