Never fished in Belgium but fished a number of canals in Holland with a Dutch friend in the late 80s early 90s and as you say absolutely deserted but caught fish all day and night to a good weight.

Still the same Don through a lot of Europe, so much water, everyone wants to fish the pay lakes with the hippos, I’ll take unknown 30s and 40s any day, it’s ruined my English fishing now though, if I go anywhere with more than a couple of people on I’m distraught  Instagram; @gavin_walding
