Interesting to hear about the road noise James.
Personally I think the KM2 is very, very hard to beat frankly. I wonder if they are continuing to manufacture the KM2 is that size, hence not in the KM3 size? It will be interesting to see how they (KM3) last too. ⭐️⭐️God Bless the USA 🇬🇧🇺🇸 ⭐️⭐️ Last edited by custom90 on 22nd Oct 2019 9:00pm. Edited 1 time in total |

I have never really got on with the mtr, lacking in side slope traction dept, back end alawys steeped out with them far more than bfg. they never seem to wear well or evenly either. Cheers

When I bought my current 110, it came fitted with MTR's and they were surprisingly good in the snow we had back in February. Bloomin' noisy though.
I also did a couple of days off road on them in an LRE 110 at Eastnor and I thought they were pretty good there, too. Interesting about the noise and unexpected. The review on Expedition Portal says on tarmac that "My first impression of the KM3 was that they were noticeably quieter and smoother than the KM2".

Don't quote me on this, but do you think the tyres may go quieter?
I put new tyres on the wifes golf last week, we used it this weekend to do 450 miles, I was mortified when we got on the M6 and heard them, thinking they were a lot louder than the previous Pirelli P zero. 100 miles later they were quiet as a mouse and I couldn't hear anything. |

Possibly, as the edges round they may become quieter, but then I want an mt with sharp edges to cut through for traction! I was surprised by how much road noise they generate compared to previous km2. Cheers

I have had some 255/85 KM2s on for around 3years now. I was pretty dissapointed to find fairly extensive perishing/cracking around all of the tread blocks on two of them. Even the spare has degraded a bit and hasnt seen any UV as it lives inside. The KM1s i had previously were over 5yrs old and had no degradation at all. Even the white lettering hadnt yellowed.
I am not sure i will replace them with another set of BFGs. I think i may well go for Toyo MTs like I have on the 90. Steve 02' 110 TD5 Double Cab Rebuild Thread |

What year are they? Bfg had a bit of a quality issue a few years back. Cheers

I had a 15 sey that cracked around the base of the blocks on ko2s. 15k miles on them. tread and depth good but lots of cracking. they refunded a %based on purchase price less tread depth difference between mine and new. took them 9 months to sort though! Cheers

That is interesting, thanks for the info.
At least you managed to negotiate some compensation. I dare say that mine probably past it now 30k on and are starting to look fairly worn anyway. I will keep an eye on the cracking but currently it is only in the very surface of the tread. Hopefully they will last for another 18months before they need changing.
