SVR Defender on the way
Lordy they cannot get the “cooking” versions launched and today’s Auto-Express is announcing the >£100,000 SVR version with a 4.4 twin turbo BMW engine and performance to mash the AMG G-Wagen into the ground. Surely getting decent sized engines and PHEV/BEV versions onto the forecourts is a higher priority than this. The no-arrival SVX Discovery was an embarrassment, for the half-dozen or so SVR versions that might sell a year this could also end up in tears at Gaydon, although they could be the only British assembled version if you take the SVO build route instead of a “plain” SVR. Also the guys with crystal balks at Auto-Express claim it will only be available as a 110 as too expensive to “reengineer the 90 “ and build two SVR versions...........
I’m sure a >£100,000 Defende will go down well with the Premier League footballers and the residents of Kensington and Chelsea Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come
2020 D240 1st Edition in Pangea Green with Acorn interior. Now gone - old faithful, no mechanical issues whatsoever ever but the leaks and rattles all over the place won’t be missed!

Just looking at the RRS SVRs ~ depreciation can be as high as £20k per annum for each of the 1st 4 years. Truly eye-watering.

Even a medium spec RRS will depreciate at £12,000 pa........... having owned three of them from new I have felt the numbness of my wallet come time to change, and it seems my present Countryman PHEV is also a hefty depreciator too Big Cry Maybe I should become a boring old fart now I’m passed bus pass age and buy a Honda Jazz next time instead of a new Defender. My sister runs a 1.4i Jazz, dirt cheap to run, never breaks down and sips petrol at an average in excess of 60mpg. Makes my PHEV look seriously alcoholic even though I run it in purely electric mode for 80% of my drives. In ICE only mode I’m lucky to see better than 35mpg from its little 1.5l 3 cylinder turbo petrol lump Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come

Enough of the "boring old fart". I am still running the Honda Jazz that I bought 14 years ago. It has never let me down and sips fuel, the first set of tyres I changed at 55,000 miles, still on original battery and exhaust. Easy to park and cheap to tax and insure. AND!!! nobody wants to nick it !!! Rolling with laughter

My 1996 90 is almost as good as that (first new battery 2018, never broken down even after I ran it almost 100 miles with no oil in the transfer case........ but it had a galvy chassis in 2011 and a new transfer box in 2015 Embarassed only on its 2nd set of tyres (BFG AT’s ran to 76000 miles and still had plenty of tread but not enough for having fun offroad) and I still have the original Freestyle wheels with new AT’s on them but have run it on MT’s on Zu lightweight alloys now and for the last 20000 miles.
It has been much more reliable than any more of my modern Range Rovers! Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come

Sounds pretty good to me, but I still believe that for me, the ultimate Defender would be the "70th Anniversary V8 Works Edition",...hard to toss that one I reckon,...I believe they were all pre sold.

I have no doubt that this was high on the priority list, if not actually the plan, all along. A self-confessed premium brand wanted a ‘premium’ Defender. Whistle Monsieur Le Grenadier

I've not been everywhere, but it's on my list.....
