Anyone know why they had a different hard top? What was wrong with the standard UK version?

It's the optional removable GRP(?) hard top on a soft top. They also got the normal roof on Station Wagon models 1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

Thanks.
Off to Google how easy it was to take off/put on. Is it just the light or is it suffering quite badly from uv damage? |

It does look like uv damage but some autogleam products would soon make it black again I’m sure. It does look very smart. 2015 HT XS 90

I had two GRP hardtops over the years on my NAS 90 soft tops. One I painted body color and the other I just let fade naturally. The key problem with the top was it’s fragility - taking them on and off was pretty involved and you had to be exceptionally careful not to break them especially at the relief to clear the roll cage at the b-pillar. The best bet was really to leave them on all the time, which ultimately made them an inferior alternative to the normal metal roof. I finally just went that route and converted the yellow truck to a traditional top with the series-style cat flap at the back.

I took a NAS 90 when I was stationed in Moscow. I put the hard top on before I left since there seemed to be little sense in having a canvas roof in Russia. Sold the truck not long after I got back, definitely should have kept it!
