Several thoughts:
1) My clutch clanks in neutral after driving but not really loudly. I can make it clank a bit anytime... 2) I thought my fuel filter cover was rattling then I removed it and the rattle was still there - turned out to be the handbrake shoes (also rattle when hot). 3) I replaced the wiper relay with the intermitent-programmable type - work really well (see eBay) 4) I had to readjust my back door light switch - can you get the back panel off and grease/replace it? 5) I just refilled my gearbox with Motul Gear 300 (sorted out my Audi synchro) - seems to be reducing the "kick" in 3rd although second is still stiff when cold. Maybe something useful there... Cheers Matt Tell someone you love them today because life is short. But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing... |

> underneath for any leaks especially around the oil filter / chassis leg .. could be the vaccume pump oil seal.. > the door stop things - make sure they hold the door open > the hoses for any signs of rubbing on other components > under seats for dampness > under floor mats for dampness > under boot mat for dampness > check you still have the radio code > front/rear heated windows still working ok > moisture in sidelights, indicators etc... > rust around headlamp bezels > underneath for loose wires, pipes and stuff and finally... test the ABS ![]() |

Me too but I intend to drive to UK and visit Ashcroft for a HD gearbox when mine is dead... Tell someone you love them today because life is short. But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing... |

1 - Maybe mines not as bad as I thought then - it will make a loud clank occasionally, then everytime I press and release the clutch after it'll get quieter. I'll mention it anyway, just so they're still aware of it. They had a look last time it was in for a service and reckoned it was normal 2 - I wasn't sure if it was the fuel filter cover at first, but took it off and there were no rattles 3 - I'm tempted by this, but the intermittent one was never really an issue before, for now whilst it's under warranty I'll get them to replace it. Especially as they just park wherever they like too... 4 - I had a feeling it'd be the switch, I'll get the dealer to do that 5 - If I carry on having the same issues when the warranty has expired I'll give that a whirl. Don't fancy messing around with it too much whilst it's under warranty.
> underneath for any leaks especially around the oil filter / chassis leg .. could be the vaccume pump oil seal.. - Check quite often for leaks when it's parked up on dry ground, and get quite paranoid if I see anything slightly amiss underneath. Had a moment in Whitby a few weeks back where I thought it had spewed out all it's engine oil. Although the oil led up the road to a broken down Fiesta. Phew! > the door stop things - make sure they hold the door open - The passenger door doesn't hold itself open too well, others seem fine... > the hoses for any signs of rubbing on other components - Did notice a bit of rubbing last time I checked the oil a couple of weekends ago, can't remember which ones, I'll check tomorrow. Was nothing too serious though... > under seats for dampness > under floor mats for dampness > under boot mat for dampness - Only dampness I've found is under the mats in the front, but nothing major and doesn't seem to be any leaks > check you still have the radio code - Never had this - but got an aftermarket stereo in there now so won't need it > front/rear heated windows still working ok - All working good > moisture in sidelights, indicators etc... - All good there > rust around headlamp bezels - Had these replaced at the last service, as well as the side steps.... ![]() > underneath for loose wires, pipes and stuff - I'll have a, err, tug about next time we have a dry day and finally... test the ABS ![]() No ABS or traction control ![]() Phew! Trying to format that took some doing.... |

Think I might be doing the same, although I'm hoping to get a lot of life out of this one.. My old Tdi managed 130-odd-K miles being mostly abused by it's previous owner, so I'd hope that Big Black which has a pretty easy life manages at least that... |

And another thing, forgot about this one but it did it last night...
- Gearstick Usually in 6th gear at about 45-50-ish, accelerating slightly to get up a hill or whatever and it'll buzz. I thought it was loose change or stuff in the cubby box at first, but deffo coming from the lever. I know I've read about the same issue on here before and it not being a big issue to get sorted? My only concern is if the dealer can't replicate it on a test drive... |
