12 hours of driving straight
490 miles 3 fuel stops 3 stops answering call of nature 4 road closed due to flooding 3 big long floods where trailer disappeared under water! Only trailer I could borrow at short notice was 1hour 45 drive from home in deepest mid wales! Route was as follows Newport-Rhayader-Swadlincote-Newport-Rhayader and finally back to newport! but I have finally picked it up! Bit rough on the bodywork in some areas but mostly straight at least, smoking a bit, battery is goosed, needs door cards, door lock latches, all the rear lights, a damn good clean and a full thorough service. Chassis is like new though. Current plan is to service it and get it to roadworthy state then MOT it on the chassis number and also insure it o n the chassis number then i can start the registration process of getting a V5 and number plates for it.

Had a productive sunday with my eldest daughter helping out
Stripped all the interior out ready to pressure wash all the copper rich african mud out! Removed the destroyed front bumper and steering guard also the rear bench seats as they are non puma, got some puma fold up seats reserved for £300. fitted the new door catches so the doors shut at least! fitted a new battery so it now starts first turn of key but is very smokey on tick over, hoping its old dirty african diesel and the fact its stood for 3-4 years so its in dire need of a service. Spent a while jet washing interior and while tis much better i think ill need to use some chemicals to get the copper stains out. think thats next sundays plan! Best do a little update here!
A few litres of industrial traffic film remover later! it looks a lot whiter! Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Smoking was diagnosed to turbo but luckily had a spare in the shed so mechanic put that on along with a full service of all fluids, replaced all the lights, fixed heater and air con, drained the dodgy diesel and put fresh tank of UK diesel in. I have new straight front wings and also a new rear door for it. but waiting til after I see what happens with IVA. its going for mot next week and Im in the process of doing the paperwork for its IVA. will refit all the seats and new door cards before IVA. Interesting about the traffic film remover. I've got a full set of doors from Dawnus vehicle and man they were grubby. Took a lot of elbow grease to get them clean. Interested to see how this turns out

I applied for NOVA with HMRC, to pay import duty on this vehicle and its already been done! so thats a few quid saved and I can go straight to DVLA now.

I think that has to be done within 14 days of arriving.
Do you know what the plan was with the construction company paying to get them brought back to UK and then doing nothing with them for so long? They would have been worth so much more to them if they had got them through IVA themselves? |

I think there was originally nearly a hundred of them, just wanted shot of em all as they've had their usage out of it. same applied for all the trucks and heavy plant they brought, back, disposed of the lot basically as soon they landed on the UK dockside. 2008 Santorini Black 110 XS USW (Sold)

So what EU emissions spec is applicable to it in terms of IVA? Will it be based on year on manufacture, year of registration (now?) or something else?
