In the process of removing the gearbox to inspect the clutch. Puma 90 H/T.
I've got the transfer box off, gear selector housing off, transmission cover off. I believe there are 10 bolts, I can see seven of them. Any tips or advice on removing the remaining three bolts from the top of the bell housing would be welcome. Thanks, Keith |

Thanks for that.
I'm on my own, that's why it's taken me several days to get to this point. The vehicle is up on 12in blocks so I can get underneath or into the cab with relative ease. I do have a few extension bars so will give it a try. |

I wrote a reply to this yesterday but it didn't post for some reason!
The ideas of doing this from the top with a helper are really good if you have that resource available to you. I'm obviously lacking in friends because I ended up doing this on my own. Those bolts at the top of the bellhousing were the most difficult part of the intermediate shaft/clutch change job, I found. Best method I would suggest if you're on your own, is with your feet pointing towards the front of the truck get a position where you're able to literally hug the bellhousing and get your hands to meet at the top. From there you have a hand for the wrench and a hand to guide it onto the bolt head. Be prepared to use a combination of extensions and UJs if you find you don't have the clearance to actually turn the bolt though! Let us know how you got on! |

Used a similar method. Boy were those top bolts tight. I think the box has been off before and must have been put back with a rattle gun. In fact I know it's been off because one of the top bolts was missing. Struggling with a rounded off head in an awkward place at the moment but I won't be beaten.
I found out too late that an AF socket is a better fit on the 13mm bell housing bolts. |

A visit to "Toolstation" this morning. £25 lighter and I'm in possession of an Irwin Nut/Bolt removal set. Back home and the rounded bolt is off in a minute. All the rest of the bolts are out and the gearbox is supported ready to be removed tomorrow.
Thanks for the advice |
