But the non car geek public prefers the entertainment side - Top Gear is HUGE. Can no one see why? Look at most of the truly successful TV programs - usually entertainment well over content.

Most people that moan about TG are a bit geeky, don't really get out much and cannot see the "big picture."

It's good entertainment with a bit of car stuff chucked in. And because it's so big, they get the best cars first. Why would the BBC want to change such a successful formula to pander to the whining minority?

Well then I'm geeky and proud !

Give me 'Mark Williams on the rails' anyday. Now that's proper telly Smile

I kinda like TG, I remember watching it as a kid looking for Landrovers, but the rest of it was a bit too...I dunno what to call it, but I wasn't really interested in the kind of plastic used on a fiesta dashboard, or that kind of thing. TG actually does have a good level of geek content I think (they do talk about engines after all...) and the special trip to Bolivia with the 4x4s was amazing, even if it was at least partially staged. I think its important to have a pro-car show, as so many folks now would have us all driving round in electric boxes if they had their way...

Oh and by the way, my TV is not even wired in to the ariel, I watch everything on dvd as and when I want, we only really ever watch TG, Star Trek, South Park and Family Guy. Wink Other than that we don't watch TV at all. 2011 110 USW
