I suffer from fairly severe Raynaud's Syndrome:-
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Raynaud_syndrome which means I really need a heated steering wheel in any car I'm likely to drive, particularly in the winter. Can anyone please point me to a suppler of heated steering wheels for the Defender? There are none specifically manufactured for a defender to my knowledge,
Its possible to retrofit other wheels to a defender, and it may be possible to find small heating pads that could be hidden behind a re-trimmed wheel, but i wouldn't recommend this as they are made of a light blend Polymer that may melt the wheel. I wear Leather ranch gloved when the weather is bad. I'm on IG: https://www.instagram.com/osloblue42/ Current: TD5 '110 "Lucinda" Thread here: https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic62562.html |

Thank-you OsloBlue
I read up on someone fitting a Discovery 3 heated steering wheel, but quite a job ! I have seen this but it doesn't seem suitable for a number of reasons:- https://www.hammacher.com/product/warmest-...omo=search I simply don't drive my classic cars in the winter, and when I have a hire car I wear gloves, but I really don't like driving in them! You could always try something cheap and cheerful like this - not massive money...

Or possibly something like these :
https://www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorcycl...FwQAvD_BwE As they are inner gloves, they wouldn't be too chunky for driving in. The wiring could easily be adapted to use with a cigar socket type plug. |

Many thanks everyone for your responses, but as you might guess not exactly what I'm after.
I saw an advertisement for a 110 CSW elsewhere a few weeks ago which said it had a "leather heated steering wheel". I sent an email to the vendors asking for more details, but no reply. I sent a second one a week or so after it sold which "bounced". Clearly someone is selling these, but who? Yes; my problem has for some time been raynaud's syndrome, of late expatiated by having to take beta blockers.
My last two Land Rovers were a Disco 3 followed by a Disco 4 both of which have heated steering wheels. I really need to get this issue sorted! I'm really quite surprised that there isn't a kit easily available not only for Defenders, but older classic cars; I'd love to be able to fit a heated steering wheel to my MGB GT V8 & MGA. The problem would be wiring as there is no clock spring type connection.

I have just been pointed in this direction:-

I am told that it "possibly might fit" a Defender but the installation instructions are in, I think, Czechoslovakian ! Assuming it did have a heated wheel and it was not a mistake or a copy-and-paste from another vehicle.
In 25 years I haven't seen a commercially available kit and the only home brew I've seen is the Disco 3 conversion on LR4X4. Mo The Land Rover 90 - Many are called, few are chosen. 50 Shades of Pennine Grey |
