South Africa only and only about 200 made. Came standard with bull bar and checkered plate on fenders and sills.
The go for premium if looked after, mine was about 3 times what a pre '99 300Tdi would go for. |

Thanks. I most probably never be able to buy a good one again, so I'm trying to look after her.
When we decided to replace the'84 V8 Hardtop, I studied the TD5, Puma and the Tdi. Tdi's where getting old here as we last saw them in '99. I wasn't fond of the electronic stuff in the Td5 and the Puma was worse. I had to be able to help myself in the middle of nowhere. Luckily I came across the Kalahari's. Didn't even know they existed. Only made in '06 and the one I bought had 119K km on the odo and very well looked after. |

Good choice I think, especially important in SA I guess at times to be able fix stuff and keep going without electronics. It could be a life saver depending where you are venturing.
I have a TD5 now which is great (first Defender was 300tdi) but yes the tdi was the last of non electronic ones, a good one is certainly worth keeping especially with the AC and that spec and condition, my one wasn't quite as nice! |
