United Kingdom 2013 Defender 110 Puma 2.2 XS DCPU Keswick Green
Land Rover TReK 2020 & 2021
Seems the new model will feature in an off road "event" early next year.

https://carbuzz.com/news/land-rover-dealer...oad-battle

"What a cool way to show the off-road capability of a Land Rover.

Few buyers seem to care how well their luxury SUV fares off-road but this hasn't stopped Land Rover from building vehicles that can tackle the roughest terrain. Land Rover was very quick to show how capable the new Defender is by putting it through a grueling testing process. Now the UK automaker wants to show its dealerships how capable new Defender is, so it will host an off-road skills competition for North American retailers called the Land Rover TReK 2020.

The event is set to be held later this year during the launch of the new Defender with regional trials set to be held this week at the Land Rover Experience Center at the Biltmore Estate in Asheville, North Carolina.

The Land Rover TReK 2020 is a two-day competition, which includes a preliminary qualifying event and final event, consisting of various off-road experiences and challenges for sales, service, and technician personnel. Land Rover says the challenges will test participant's off-road driving, navigation, and team collaboration. This year's competition will include 53 three-person teams from around the US and Canada, each driving a custom 2020 Land Rover Discovery SUV painted in a unique livery for the event. The winner of each wave will earn a spot to compete at the TReK Finals hosted Palm Springs, California on January 2020, using customized Defenders."

All a good thing that there's the acknowledgement that things like this are important to support the brand.....

....but i can't help thinking that if this was really comparable to a camel trophy event the discovery behind them would be partially in a ditch with at least a dozen visible dents, a second one would be behind it in the same ditch, on its roof being rolled over by 15 people rocking it from side to side, and the bridge they're standing on would be mostly missing, and what was present would be held together with twine and duct tape!! Very Happy Very Happy

edit: just noticed the main task in that bridge building exercise is to "put together the land rover logo that's been painted on the beams"!!!!!

Wasn’t there a previous TReK limited edition P38 and Defender with gold paintwork a few years back?

5 minutes later edit - yes it was a North American event in 1999 with Disco2’s and P38A’s - looks like a mild Camel trophy and before the G4.
Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come
2020 D240 1st Edition in Pangea Green with Acorn interior. Now gone - old faithful, no mechanical issues whatsoever ever but the leaks and rattles all over the place won’t be missed!

Maybe you have to sell a few first to get a treat; or maybe the complete opposite ~ sell none & maybe corporate will throw you a bone 😜

LR TRek Events are absolutely superb, i was lucky enough to compete at the instructors TReK event in 2015. they are a really good way to test people and machine. leaderless and led tasks based around vehicles and off roading/winching/orienteering over 3 days with little sleep. A lot of fun. And we were paid to do it! Thumbs Up Cheers

Following Lucky8 on Instagram who built them I've been amazed seeing them all lined up! I wouldn't want to foot the bill for converting all 70 of them!! James

I thought it odd that a corporate event would choose non~OEM accessories over OEM ones?

Quite agree, non-oem parts and company. I'd have thought SVO would have done it? James

Bit of a kick in the teeth if you have been told your Defender is delayed so that a bunch of dealer staff can have a jolly......

I know that they used the Hi Lift as a short pull hand winch but it is a little daft to inlude it on a vehicle with plastic all round. I suspose that it fits the 'image'. Creative use of the winch would have made more sense.

Jealous.......who, me Whistle

Non OEM parts are what many owners are fitting because either LR won’t approve them, LR dealers cannot get hold of them as they are “on back order at the factory” or they simply cost 2 or 3 times more than the aftermarket suppliers charge for often better quality bits. Don’t forget that Lucky8 is a maker or supplier of 3rd party off-road kit and not an LR dealership so this is good advertising for them. US equivalent of the likes of Safety Devices and Mantec if you like. Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come

I hadn't thought of those optics, but you are right - 70 plus vehicles. Maybe they are also used as demonstrators and will make it into the 2nd hand market - now maybe for even more money than new!

I though this was a JLR US corporate sponsored event rather and Lucky8 are just a supplier?
