Gaydon motor museum... anyone been?
We're heading up that way tomorrow, so I was going to pop into the museum and have a look.

Has anyone been? any good? (not just for LR related stuff, but cars in general)

Website looks OK, but more aimed to school trips.

I understand that it is based on the British Leyland collection, so while there were some quite nice cars there, there were several glaring omissions from a "National" motor collection. No Jensen, I don't remember seeing any Lotus, No Rolls Royce or Bentley, the only Aston Martins were the Bond ones, etc.

There is a wider mix of cars now, but it is largely BL/Rover.

It's not the National Motor Museum, that's at Beaulieu.  1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

Gaydons' great, albeit a bit cramped. For a little preview of some of the Land Rover content, take a look HERE. Darren

The Defender LCV is worth a poke around if it's still on display.  1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

Yeah, that's a fascinating concept. Ahead of its' time in so many ways, with todays' move towards smaller capacity engines and light weight construction. Darren

Ford were going to build another same size hall on the side but they sold out before it happened.
Anyone know who owns it now?

Yep pretty good place to visit, especially if it is wet and windy as it is all indoors.

A ticket gets you free entry for 12 months so even better value if you go a couple of times.

I remember seeing the LCV a number of years ago but it hasn't been there on subsequent visits. Perhaps it is spearheading the design for the Defender replacement!
