I'd go on structural condition. Which one has the best chassis and least corrosion?

if its not right walkaway you will be surprized what is out there at a high price while service history is a good thing condition is a big factor a low mileage example may look good but it may have lived in a quarry while a high mileage example has hardly been off-road .go look at a few before buying any look underneath check its history its a pain but its going to be worth it

Thanks for all the advice - all very helpful!
I'm pleased to say I struck a deal and picked up my first Defender yesterday! It's a silver 2008 2.4 110 Utility with 42K on the clock. Former company vehicle owned by new and used for promo at trade shows etc. - so not heavily used or abused. It wasn't necessarily my first choice of colour, but as per the advice here I went on condition and history over colour - although I've got some plans to make it a bit more to my liking though... The list of upgrades has started... I've been a lurker on the forum for many years (after owning a Freelander 2, Disco 3 and Evoque previously and being a member on Martin's other sites over the years) but now look forward to being more active and access the wealth of knowledge available! Thanks, All.
I agree, security needs to be looked at sooner rather than later. What options have people on here gone with / recommend? Cheers. |

Looks great. Good colour.... you don’t have to wash silver ones more than once a year 👍

Nice motor. I wanted a coris grey one from the start, but fell for a similar car to yours. Was a bit too silvery to start with so added a bit of black bling after seeing another on the forum.
Really glad i did so. as it's easy to clean. More visible and I love it. Good choice. . |

Thanks, all.
Love the look PCM - you had the same thoughts as me (I wanted a darker grey too, but went for condition / service history / mileage over color...) and my plan is to spray the roof black, add black wheels and a few other black bits... Seeing yours has confirmed my idea's! Thanks! First security items on order and under chassis waxoyl treatment soon to be booked in! Lighting will be next on the list I think... Cheers. |

I actually had my roof wrapped. Means I can make it 100% stock original if i needed to. Was also cheaper and it will protect the roof paint from bird mess etc..
