So, if decibel levels and hearing loss are a concern to JLR, why haven't the 2m Defenders/LRs/Series that were built ever been recalled? Monsieur Le Grenadier

"A new EU regulation was introduced from July 2016, Regulation (EU) No 540/2014, phases in tighter noise limits over 10 years, together with a revised, more representative test procedure. By 2026 the limit for most new passenger cars will be 68 dB(A)."
"These have been progressively reduced from 82 decibels (dB (A)) in 1978 to the current limit of 74 dB (A) established in 2016." https://www.vehicle-certification-agency.g...-noise.asp |

So they recall a car that has the slightest chance of damaging your hearing because it's everso slighly throaty, yet the overall group (JLR) aren't bothered about the 6 speed defender drive shaft that strips giving 100% chance of no drive (or engine braking, say when off road towing something heavy downhill) or a front axle case that snaps and "might make you drift maybe an inch or 3 to one side of the road, but you'll probably ot notice it as they all do that sir"
madness. |

Yes, I tend to agree.
I think the main difference is the fact that non-compliance on the former has the sanction of a huge fine...the latter does not. |

^^^ Or that they, JLR, think the demographic of the F-Type owner might be more likely to pursue a case against them and have the funds to do so. Cost Benefit Analysis in action... Monsieur Le Grenadier
