Apparently the UK's 3rd best selling car last month, overtaking the Focus. Quite an achievement for an expensive, 'niche' car... Monsieur Le Grenadier

They wouldn't be number 3 if they had 5 barely distinguishable models at overlapping price points.

It's only just launched though, so that will be the effect of 3 years+ of preorders!

Next month should be interesting then! Not convinced I'm ready for a car that automatically updates its software without asking me. Too many memories of PCs going wrong after a minor update. |

I find that extremely hard to believe. No doubt the Bentley Bentaygo was the UK's best selling SUV Defender 90XS SW

My Mini Countryman does over the air updates and the BMW system is excellent , the few updates I have had have always happened at night and when the car is stopped and there is always a message on the dash telling me a software update has happened. Recently JLR announced that their InControl Touch Pro system will soon be updatable over the air. Seeing as they couldn’t get ICTP working properly from 2016 to 2019 I certainly wouldn’t have a lot of confidence in that system. So far I haven’t had any main systems updates over the air, mostly MMI and Satnav updates. One thing for sure it beats having to book your car in 3-4 weeks in advance to get a slot on the dealer’s computers and then having no car for a couple of days while the apprentice tries to get the system connected up. Unlike my Mini’s system afaik the JLR system is an optional extra working if you opt to pay the additional cost for a data SIM, it all came for “free” in the Mini............ and that costs a lot less than any JLR product Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come 2020 D240 1st Edition in Pangea Green with Acorn interior. Now gone - old faithful, no mechanical issues whatsoever ever but the leaks and rattles all over the place won’t be missed! |

Is it just me that thinks all Tesla cars are ugly and that dash make the interior look dull and bland. Also in my experience most are driven by people who think they now own the road and never ever need to use their indicators especially when they are cutting you up sorry rant over! Andy

It seems a missed opportunity. They could have designed some next level sci-fi stuff but apparently it is deliberate as anything to exciting would put the average punter off.
Shame but I'm sure EV's will get more adventurous in the future. |

Our D5 does over the air updates, gonna see how that goes
I had a good look over a Model 3 the other day its really nice, a quality feel isn't really there when you start fiddling with things though. I'm currently waiting for delivery of an Ipace to replace our BMW I3 but after watching the Taycan Launch yesterday I think I like that ! 110 MY23.5 X Dynamic HSE RR MY23 HSE PHEV D5 MY19 HSE - Now Sold D4 MY16 HSE Luxury - Now Sold D4 MY12 HSE - Gone D3 MY06 S - Gone but not forgotten |

Taycan could be the game changer. Especially when they release the less expensive versions.
I thought it quite interesting reading Land Rover’s claims of extensive testing on the Defender. Something close to a million miles I believe. Compare that with the Taycan which is already up to 6 million. You just know Porsche will get it right. |

The Taycan sounds very cool but it's comical that they've badged an electric car as 'Turbo' Darren

I thought that too it has some kind of electrical Boost feature and a two speed gearbox which I believe makes them think they have artistic licence to use the term "Turbo" when in actual fact I don't think it does 110 MY23.5 X Dynamic HSE
