South Africa 2013 Defender 110 Puma 2.2 SW Santorini Black
Spigot Bearing (Clutch Sleeve) Absent
Further to my previous post, my engine was rebuilt, at a cost of approx. £4000 with new injectors, pistons, etc., etc. by an apparently reputable nationwide engine remanufacturing specialist. It ran well for about 1000km despite a whirring sound at speed from somewhere in the transmission which no one could pinpoint, but then the vehicle had to go into a garage with clutch problems. On dismantling they have found that there is no spigot bearing (known by LR as a clutch sleeve) on the input shaft between the crank and flywheel! It was obviously omitted in the rebuild. My question please is whether anyone knows whether this is likely to have caused any clutch damage? Many thanks.
