United Kingdom 2015 Defender 90 Puma 2.2 SW Keswick Green
Bucks to Alicante
Evening all

Next week I shall be driving the '90 down to Newhaven and then over to Dieppe courtesy of DFDS. My plan is to travel down to Bordeaux avoiding the Paris route peripherique and then take the northern pass over the Pyrenees, down to Zaragoza, Valencia and then to Santa Pola (near Alicante).

This'll be the first time I've done this route and was just wondering if anyone is familiar with the route?

Any tips on stop-over points or scenic diversions greatly appreciated!

S.

Have a great trip! If you’re stopping near Bordeaux I’d recommend Arcachon and Dune de Pilat- it’s the biggest sand dune in Europe!

I’ve done it a couple of times down to Tarifa twice and the Pyrenees. I don’t think we’ve actually stayed anywhere we didn’t like. I guess you are camping? Most of the places we have camped in France would be closed at this time of year so probably not much point in me listing those sites.

Beautiful places we’ve camped or cheap hotelled; Le Mans, Amboise, La Rochelle, Reims, Epernay, Tarn Gorge, Collioure, San Sebastián, Valencia and Segovia. If any of those take your fancy I could give you a bit more info. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS
