Extra 12v socket installation issue
As title suggests I've wired a secondary socket direct to battery with inline fuse and negative to a good earth on body. The cables are showing 12.7v the same as the standard socket on dash as is the secondary socket. Satnav plug illuminates to show it is live but the satnav is dead. Plugging same power cable into standard socket the satnav powers up. I'm stumped. Any suggestions please. Confused

The obvious thought is that the wires are reversed. You'd still get 12v but the sat nav probably needs the polarity to be correct. Darren

Bad connection somewhere when the circuit is under load the voltage drops. I know the satnav will only be a small load but might drop it enough to not power the satnav and only the led.

12.7v is that with the engine running? If so it is low, wants to be about 14v 80" 1948
