MOT pass
The little red pick up sailed through the MOT, sort of. A new back box on the exhaust and a fog light bulb were required. The only notice on the cert is a minor leak from the power steering box. Another job for another day. The emissions readings were nice and low, so happy with that.

When I picked it up the garage said they had checked online for the expiry date of the MOT and spotted I’d not had any tax for ‘a while’. I’d say Feb is a while. I’m still wondering how I missed the various letters from the DVLA, something gone awry with the home admin. Now sorted Embarassed

Great it passed the MOT Thumbs Up

Yes that happened to me, strange that you rely on that brown envelope coming through the letter box and just forget Rolling Eyes 1996 Golf Blue 300Tdi 110 Pick up.

I've done it as well. Without the old disc in the window I'm lost.

Just don't forget to cancel it when/if you sell the vehicle as they will continue to take the money. DVLA don't want to give the money back when you realise they are still taking the money, they wanted to charge a friend 50% of what they owed him as admin fees. Don't make old people mad.
We don't like being old in the first place,
so it doesn't take much to Censored us off.

Good point! Unlikely to sell it as the kids want to learn to drive in it....and they are 14 and 12 so a little way to go yet!

I always pay at the local Post Office counter for all of my vehicles for two reasons.......

Firstly it helps (in a very small way) justify the local shops and secondly it sticks in my craw to give DVLA any more money than they are entitled to !! Whistle

Minor leak from the steering box noted on the MOT. I've also just poked my head under and noticed a drip from sump - leak starting around the sump gasket but oil running down and coming off the sump plug. Not major but will need sorting out.

The steering box could be expensive, I've been reading around it and the consensus appears to be to forget the re-build seal kits and get a replacement box.

If anyone has had a good experience with a refurb / exchange unit please shout.

Thanks,

Huttopia.

My steering box has very very slowly been leaking for years. I just clean it up pre MOT and that’s all. Only if it got to a stage where I had to often too it up would I be concerned. No Guts, No Glory.
