Vehicle details differ between insurance companies? any idea
Hello, new on here so go easy Smile IF i get my defender i'll do a formal introduction later...

anyway, I'm due to purchase of my first Defender tomorrow but hit a snag tonight when sorting out the insurance.

I done some online quotes (no problems here) to get an idea of cost before contacting my current insurance provider,
reg entered pulled up the detail i expected X reg 110 td5 county defender

but when i contacted my provider they claim the vehicle is a double cab and wanted almost double the premium??

odd i thought so i checked on some more comparison web sites and they all pull up a 110 county
BUT
direct line pulls up a double cab?

I don't own the vehicle yet so don't physically have the V5c to look at.

any ideas why they same reg pulls back differing info? also and any advice? everything else seems to check out, former owners, mileage etc. so before i go and see the seller (and the V5c) tomorrow night I thought I'd say hello and see what you guys think.

Cheers
Tony

Some companies don’t insure Defenders as they see them as a commercial and want it on a commercial policy.

Some insurance databases seem messed up for Defender. Most have mine as a CSW some have it as a hardtop. If they won’t listen or read the evidence you just have to go elsewhere. 1995 Defender 110 CSW

Ah that’s a bit of a relief, So it does happen then. I did have a bit of a worrythat it had been fiddled with and it wasn’t what I thought it was. When I looked at it it appears genuine, it’s only had 2 owners from new, and it’s got plenty info in a history file, so I guess I need to look at the V5 then tomorrow.

Thanks for replying Smile

You might be better talking to real person at a specialist broker like A Plan, rather than the big “computer says no” high street names. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

Yes some of their online systems can chuck up some real irregularities with Defenders I have found! Rolling Eyes

you could try the NFU and talk to a real person who understands what a defender is ... we have always found them reasonable. Thumbs Up Poppy - TDCI (Puma) 110XS 2.2 - Camper conversion - see the build here - https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic56530.html
