New turbo
Right, time to explore a new turbo. Post engine rebuild and swapping out the transfer box the pick up is running well but down on power. It’s done 180k miles. Any recommendations re getting a replacement turbo or the existing one refurbed?

Thanks

Completely anecdotal I know, but you cannot get better than a new standard garret, did so on my old 200tdi along with reconditioned injectors and blimey did it jump up a notch or three performance-wise...

Later I add a full sized intercooler and tweaked the injection pump and boost - WOW...! Shocked Obviously it is never going to be hot hatch fast, but it surprised more than one. The engine is now 20 years old and is still as reliable as ever.

Have to love a TDI Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

Turbo Techniqs for a VGT at £1k... worth it IMO or as stated a genuine Garett, pretty much the benchmark for turbos.

Myself i'd stay away from reconditioned unless it's been done by a proper outfit.

Just spoke to AET and they were of the view I'm very unlikely to find anything other than a cheap chinese copy new. Their exchange unit is £290+vat and comes with a 2 year warranty. I think that is the route I'll go down.

Thanks for all of the input. Thumbs Up
