Some may know, I 'work' selling bikes.
This past couple of weeks we have had phonecalls on a daily basis regarding people who have bought bikes from a website and they have not been delivered.. Anywho, we have researched the site and it's made of pages, products and information from a variety of other more legit sites, like ours, here in the UK and the States. It's a padlocked http secure site, but they sell nothing. For eg. they sell £300 bikes for less than £30... what on earth do people expect !! It may be a good site to look at, to see signs of what a dodgy scam website really looks like. If you are looking for a kids bike, please don't fall for scam site like this, like lots of others have already. www.bikecheer.com If something is too good to be true, then it usually is, but WOW, some people really are suckers for a bargain. |

I think I found a similar "scam" site being advertised (sponsored advert) on FB recently, except this one was selling similarly discounted Salomon sports shoes / boots. The prices were about 10% of the RRP for the current range.
I guess the old adage applies - "if it seems too good to be true, it probably is". |

I've seen the cheap items pop up as advertisements on FB and Instagram - all offering "branded" products for ridiculously low prices, never clicked a link as I see it also as too good to be true. https://www.facebook.com/duckworthparts

The sad thing is now, these people who have set this site up will have those peoples bank details, names and addresses. So that info now will be sold on to god knows who! It still amazes me, that people still fall for this sort of , £300 quid bike for £30 etc as you say, its going to cost about that to post it out. The best ones are the call centre ones that say they are micosoft windows lol. Yeah ring me, and i will tell them the only system i have on line is a windows 3.51 system Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back Success is 90% Inspiration and 4 minutes Preparation # you can make it! |

I feel for the 'legitimate' retailers out there. It must be so frustrating.
But I have very little sympathy for anyone who thinks that this kind of deal is a bargain. Things that are overly cheap are a scam or are stolen. |

you wont get stolen stuff like this on sale like this, that sort of stuff will be on sale on face book and gumtree and around the dodgy pubs in the dodgy areas. Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back Success is 90% Inspiration and 4 minutes Preparation # you can make it! |

or eBay
I am told Amazon is quite a place for re-sellers to move knock-off equipment. I don't think I have ever got anything that wasn't legit' but I was looking at Marshall (amplification) headphones. These were a fair bit cheaper on Amazon than from Marshall direct. There were quite a few 'reviews' saying they were knock-offs and they had reported them, but it seems that this didn't have any effect Not quite the same as Greeni's problem where it is an absolute scam with no chance of ever receiving anything. The internet is kind of lawless I suppose? I can't see how you could ever find anyone responsible, let alone bring them to justice? Does anyone ever get prosecuted? |

I don't trust facebook as far as I can throw it at all, I have often toyed many times on just binning it off. But I do have a pal that lives a good few miles away from me, so its the only means we have in coms. if we were not in touch I would have binned years ago. I wouldn't even trust their daft apps either, so i am not surprised that nothing happens, when you report . Probably a lot more profitable than doing over a bank (as they carry hardly any money these days) and a lot less likely to get caught when you are operating your scam from the other side of the world.
