TdCi 2.4 2007 - Timing chain
Hi
Is there a service life for the Timing Chain on a 2.4 2007 ?

I am interested in prevention rather than a repair in the future.
Vehicle gets regular , high grade oil changes.
No issues with any strange noises.

Cheers

It's not in the schedule.

Appears supposed to be "for life" but many do change them... Defender "Puma" 2.4 110 County Utility (possibly the last of the 2.4's)

Take a look at my pics

I'm changing my timing chain, gears etc. at around 80k miles this time.
Old Ford engines used to rattle when the timing chain needed replacement, now the thing is encased in plastic = no rattle - no warning - large bill.

While we're on the subject, I think my timing chain is due for a change as well seeing as I've already done 100+Ks (156++ to about 165++ ish) already.

This being the case, do we just change the chain or are there other bits and bobs to replace as well while we're at it? I remember that coming from a vehicle that had a timing belt, there were a pulley, tensioner, bearings, and seals to replace while you did the job so I'm wondering if it will also be the case for our forever trucks.
