Generally the camera manufacturers ring Flashes are the most convenient for this kind of stuff. I'm a nikon owner and have a nikon ring flash. There are always cheaper options out there from other manufacturers but generally the canon one will suit your needs better. When I've bought flashes from other manufacturers in the past it usually involves a lot more setup each time you want to use the thing which eventually, if u use it a lot will put you off using it. I have several nikon flashes and you just plug them in (or wireless) and they just work. The only thing with after Market flashes is if you spend the money you can get a lot more power.
