My '02 Disco was the same, but it now has the transfer box from a later Disco2 that had the CDL, combined with a Disco1 selector mechanism.

If a prospective buyer wanted to it is not hard to retrofit a functional CDL, the only part which is next to impossible to obtain is a genuine cable-operated gear shift mechanism. There are several good aftermarket options however, which seem to work fine even if they are cruder than the genuine one, alternatively the Disco1 (gearbox mounted) transfer lever mechanism can be used.

Thanks guys, been busy over the weekend & back at work today so only now checking the forum. Defo no diff lock so it's not for me thanks, am looking for one that at least has the mechanics in the transfer box. Hope it finds a good home. Cheers.
