I'm getting the hood and cage from Exmoor. My first choice of cage would have been Protection and Performance but it's a 3 month wait. Exmoor supply Safety Devices cage but the down side is that it doesn't come with bulkhead removal bar. I went for the Exmoor hood because it doesn't use external studs to fix to the tub.

I think I've found the perfect place to mount the interior courtesy light too. I'll post pics if it goes to plan. I'm not using the standard light but replacing with the Mud LED light

Click image to enlarge The interior is now completely defarmed. Everything has been either cleaned or replaced. Dab radio fitted and everything smells fresh. |

For something that came off a farm, that's in damned good nick. Good find. Will look great with the hood... Monsieur Le Grenadier

I'm managing to work through various niggles prior to the hood arriving.
At some point the driver's door has been caught or pushed open too far. I thought it was just the check strap but replacement made no difference. Took door card off to investigate further. Problem solved. Click image to enlarge |

6 more sleeps until cab removal. Can't wait. I've recruited help from two forum volunteers, one who has done the exercise before so hopefully all will go to plan

It was an early start yesterday with us all on location before 9am. Work started straight away and we didn't down tools until 5.45 in the evening.
The first problem was WE had ordered the wrong hood. Anyway, not to be deterred we cracked on stripping the existing roof and lining. This went without a hitch and progress was swift. Click image to enlarge Time to start fitting the cage. The rear section is relatively simple so this task was assigned to Kev and me. Greeni took the difficult job of bolting front windscreen protector to chassis. This involved removing wheel arch liners and wheels. The instructions state to remove outer wings but we elected to try fitting with them in place. This was proving to be a pig of a job with much cutting, hammering and head scratching. Eventually we were bolted up and refitting. Poor Greeni was not enjoying this part and I had to keep leaving pie on the wing top to keep him going. Lining up the chassis mount to hoop was very difficult hence the blocks of wood and large hammer. Click image to enlarge More parts were missing to enable us to finish the door surrounds but we are almost there. Click image to enlarge A big thank you to Kev and Greeni for their valued help and for giving up their Saturday. Last edited by ginjez on 11th Aug 2019 7:56am. Edited 1 time in total |

Thinks.... “Can’t wait for some roof off summer cruising, pretending the Huddersfield ring-road is just like the Pacific Coast highway.”
