A week off work to tinker
Just had a lovely week off work to tinker with the Series addiction. Firstly doing some jobs on the list with the S2:

Starter motor had started to fail and wasn’t always engaging. Removed it to find the usual list of jobs created by one small job... the split pin had snapped and most bits had deposited into the bottom of the bell housing. That took a day of magnets and small LED cameras to get it all out.

Sent if off for rebuild and all good. Then decided to change the sump gasket. I had a leak and figured I’d get it off and then do an oil/filter change. The sludge in the sump was appallingly bad and it felt good to have done that little gem!

Ran it around for 200miles that week and treated it to a new set of points, coil and then flushed/changed the coolant.

Hub clean up, new seals and re paint the next job.

Now onto the S1. A rolling resto this and we had a small issue of a rad that had more holes than suits an item designed to hold water !

Got my lad involved to remove the rad and send it for re core.

Nice to have a tinker especially with an old Series which isn’t your daily driver and your not stressing to get it back on the road quickly. I’m currently recommissioning a 1953 80in, which is lovely and original and with original paint, or what’s left of it. No rush to get it on the road, just enjoying garage time as and when Thumbs Up
