There's a thread running in general section on swapping out tyres for age reasons.
I'm extending this to tyre age / identification and putting it here, if you tyre experts can help. It's often said that tyre age / year of manufacture is on the sidewall and BFG have a DOT (date of manufacture) code Well, this is what I've got. I bought the truck with these tyres 6 yr ago so have no purchase info. Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge We can assume they are genuine .. so what does DOT: BFG OR UH 21 mean as an age !! Sold the much modified 110 2.8, in Oz Brought the 90 home from Switzerland ... |

My BFGs have the date code only on the side with the white lettering.
Took me ages to find it, as they're fitted correctly white on the inside. |

The age is listed in a four digit number i.e. 4516. This means it was manufactured in the 45th week of 2016.
It will be big so it is easily found. Over here you get an advisory notice at the annual road worthiness test when your tyre reaches six years of age. So when I am getting new tyres I always get new ones ordered in and not stock that has been lying in stock. If you want a photo of the age number I'll put one up. Here is a Dunlop tyre tyre the manufacturing date is clearing visible as 2614 after the word "pair". This means it was manufactured in the 26th week of 2014. https://www.dunlop.eu/en_gb/consumer/learn...kings.html 1982 88" 2.25 diesel 1992 110 200tdi csw -Zikali 2008 110 2.4 tdci csw-Zulu 2011 110 2.4 tdci csw-Masai |
