OK, I'll be the first to come out on this one...
Yes I would, especially now the 'proper' land rovers are no longer a part of the companies offering. |

I'm not a fan of the Jeep aesthetic but some of the custom ones look great. However the stumbling block is UK pricing. They are not worth the money over here.

I think so.
Jeep has stayed true to its origins and fans I’m not sure what the costs are like in the US or whether it’s a lack of demand in the UK to bring costs down, but they’re a bit to expensive for me. Would definitely like the jeep pickup though. JLRs biggest competition is itself, how many different range rovers do they need? All they need is four diverse and radically different designs. Not designs that look the same feel the same and have slight dimensional differences. Definitely. Loads of decent bits , big torquey motors , excellent pedigree.
Both Defenders & Jeeps are good each in their own way. Guy May your life be like toilet paper ; long & useful. |

You're quite right, but i don't NEED 2 Defenders, i WANT 2 Defenders just like a lot of others on this forum. Based on that logic i'd have a 79LC in a heartbeat if i could afford one, purposefull design, live axles, simple mechanics, minimal ecectrics - it's a Jap Defender |

JLR is going to merge/be taken over/partner with Peugeot. Works well for both. JRL is on the rocks having massively overinvested based on the initial success of the business from the investment Ford put in before they sold it.
Peugeot doesn't have a 4x4 offering and is desperate to move more into the Asian market. They have recently acquired a taxi automotive business over there. At Peugeot post tie-up plans are being put in place, so whilst not a done deal makes sense. Peugeot turned around their own business by simplifying its product range and making sure all cars are significantly different. Post-merger that is what you'll see. The model range will be stripped back and hopefully invest in the Defender so it is suited to the Asian market - rugged, easy to fix etc etc. |

Why not?
When I bougth my LR was based in my requirements that was fullfilled at this time by the Defender. If Jeep or Toyota will make a 4x4 with 7 "real" seats with similar characteristics (diesel, high load capacity among others ) at a reasonable price for sure I will buy one of them. Plenty of aftermarket things here in Chile Cheers! They are good motors to drive, but I still wont own one, even the aftermarket stuff come over here, the support needs to be a lot better. Not many garages can diagnose these. My dad had a right bother, and it was only word a mouth that mentioned what the problem may have been. One of the worst cars I think my dad had owned sadly. No. Aesthetically they are to my taste completely without charm. It would be like marrying a deceased friends ugly wife out of desperation.
