New defender 90 is 2587, old 110 is 2794........
2794 minus 2587 equals 207 therefore the new 90 is shorter than the old 110 unless I have royally got my maths wrong  2015 HT XS 90

To keep it simple, wheelbases to the nearest inch,
Old 90, 93" New 90, 102" Old 110, 110" New 110, 119" Old 130, was 127" New 130, is really just a new 110 with a bigger overhang, also 119" To me this model naming is only trying to cash in on the reputation of the old model, just as reusing the Defender name does. They have no relation to the wheelbase, it's stupid to use these names now they no longer have a meaning. The biggest tragedy is the '130', naming a 8 seat people carrier after a model that was only ever a double cab pickup or a chassis cab commercial is stretching it beyond any credible connection. 100 and 120 would have been far more appropriate names. It is going to be royally confusing for buying stuff for it. Oh yes, sir wants tyres for a Defender 110 is that 18” or 20” wheels? 1995 Defender 110 CSW

Imagine the arguments at the trialling clubs:
A new 90 may be eligible to take a shunt on a trial section because the wheelbase is over 100" Whereas the old 90 isn't, even though it will have a bigger turning circle! Then there's the permit system for Gatesgarth Pass in the Lake District. All new defenders will be banned from driving the road because they're >100" Karma.    |

Agreed! I was baffled by why they've called something with a 100" wheelbase a 90. Defender 100" Defender 120" Defender 120" L Would work IMO |

And I'm a little baffled why they've called something which clearly the spiritual successor to the Discovery a Defender! (Actually I am not, it was probably inevitable, and it now makes the other name changes and the dropping of the Freelander brand understandable). |
