Just be careful, I know of someone (not me) who was arrested by Police for "about to commit an arrestable offence" i.e. Theft of a motor vehicle after being spotted taking photo's of his favourite vehicles. It took him and others four hours to proof his innocence . Don't make old people mad.
We don't like being old in the first place, so it doesn't take much to us off. Richard |

Some police are just idiots and don't understand/remember/want to remember the law on taking pictures in public.
(it is: you can take pictures of anything from a public space, without hinderance from police or security) |

Idiots?
Did I say anything about "for taking photo's in a public place"? What I did say was "about to commit an arrestable offence" The basis being that It has been recorded as criminals take pictures of particular vehicles before they steal them to order. Don't make old people mad. We don't like being old in the first place, so it doesn't take much to us off. Richard |

Yes but taking pictures isn't an arrestable offence, , so unless your friend was stood there poised with a screwdriver about to force the door lock, then how can it be classed as about to commit an arrestable offence?
So I stand by my words that the police were acting like idiots by twisting what hadn't even happened and making a legal action (taking pics) into something that they can harass a member of the public for. I wonder if the police arrest every Google earth camera car they see driving around? After all, you can get much more on the ground footage from your laptop than stood out in the rain all day. |
