Had the defender up in the air today to try and get to the bottom of the shuddering, no luck really !
I did however notice that one of my front wheels is sticking . Not at all sure if this is normal but if anyone has the time to look at the video I took this afternoon that would be great ! Video shows the Defender with Diff unlocked and in reverse . https://www.instagram.com/hustynminepark/ |

Thanks Bluest, I’ve tried as you’ve suggested, the brakes don’t appear to be binding and I can hear no scuffing. The flange on that wheel doesn’t seem to get any warmer either.
I’m imagining it’s internal , cv or diff but really hoping not ! When I give the wheel a good rock there are no clicks or clunks . As for the rear not moving at all unless encouraged by hand , I think that may be down to a worn bearing but again no clicking or play from rocking the tyre . I did find a load of grease packed behind the half shaft drive flange , I imagine that’s been pushed out of a bearing https://www.instagram.com/hustynminepark/ |
