Well the best plans and all that .
In the end I didnt manage to get a replacement from the manufacturer and now have lost the original somehow. I have found some chaps who will make one but they need to see a picture of the specs of the original. Does anyone have a strut they could take a pic of please? thanks TC |

I can do that for you, no bother, but I don't have the car with me today. I could take a pic this evening if someone else doesn't jump in before then. Donald

Sorry TC, a couple of things came up late at work and I just forgot until it was too late.
Here is a pic though, just in case it's any use. Not the best, but it's a black thing, in a black garage. ![]() Click image to enlarge One of the things I had to deal with, with my upper strut, was that with the door open it was pushing the spare wheel against the brake light lens. Enough that I didn't like it. I did look at sourcing another strut, which would have been just 8mm shorter. I think I found someone to do it, but the unit cost for a one-off was ca. £120. For me, the much easier option was just to drill another hole in the mounting plate that goes above the door - moving the strut mount towards the nearside by about 10/12mm. Easily enough done and now the door opens far enough, but doesn't clash with the lights. This could just be a problem caused by a particular combination of tyre and swingaway carrier. Anyway, hope you get sorted.
