All, looking to change the oil as i have a week off soon.
Looking at my general data section of my owners manual suggested oil is 5W30 or 5W40/5W50 for higher ambient temp. Standards are ACEA 1.98 & B1.98 but was informed these are now withdrawn, My google-fu is weak and i only come across old threads talking about it or unanswered questions... Could someone clarify the right oil spec for my TD5 (15P)? Also should i use synthetic or semi synthetic? Definately wanted to use opie oils but using thier reg search throws up some oils with incorrect specs, having a more detailed look found this HX7 which seems to fit the bill

Message them through their website or PM on here. You’ll get a quick answer. Oil specs are a funny thing in that what the manufacturer recommends is not always the best you can get, especially as a long time has passed since the TD5 oil spec was set.
Just as an example, the Ford spec oil for early Pumas calls for a fuel economy oil that is deliberately designed to break down with age to prevent thickening with miles and a reduction in fuel economy. This is compromised from and engine protection point of view, so other oils are actually better in that regard. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS |
