You do not need to touch the levelling motors. Just take the entire halogen lamp units out and install the LED lamps instead. The levelling motors will continue to do their job with the new LED lamps as before.
Eric You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation.

To swop headlights, undo the indicator and side light. When you unplug the side light tie a bit of string to the plug just in case it disappears into the wing, saves spending 5-10 trying to fish it out if you have short fat fingers.

Next push and twist the headlight and ring off the adjustment screws then unplug the H4 connector

Next stage do not undo the small screws/clips over grass/gravel because if you drop the screws it will be difficult to find them.

The rings only go on way so you may have to twist them around to right orientation..

Then reassemble with your new LED headlights which should have an approval mark on.

Thanks Brendan, it was the levelling motors I was unsure of, I've had the lights out previously when fitting checker plate to the wing tops Thumbs Up
