It’s definitely coming Dinnu! When and what is still TBC! Been chatting with pj on here about his 400hp+ M57 or an LS3. There’s a year or more yet before I need to make a call so I’ll keep prepping! |

Ah I am so envious Co1... Heck I cannot wait to see what you think of the ATBs. I am kinda keen on the idea of the ATB in the LT230 as well. Watching with interest |

I spoke to Dave at Ashcroft about my long term plans and he recommended ATB in the rear and the transfer box, but just pegged in the front. I’ll do the transfer box last as I might change the ratio a bit to make motorway cruising a little easier.
The long term plan right now is to sort out the front with the diff and HD drive train and then the engine swap. I really want to retain the manual box which is steering me more towards an M57, but the LS is never far from the conversation!! I won’t be doing the engine for about a couple of years or so, so I guess I’m in no rush. Last edited by Co1 on 16th Aug 2021 4:59am. Edited 1 time in total |

Ive got all three in mine (centre ATB + both axles). Can confirm it handles great with no untoward consequences. Very happy with it, and very sure footed. Its on a 4.6 v8 90.

Well first bit of feedback. I did 40 miles yesterday’s snow another 40 today, so granted the sample size is small! However it is the same route I do to work every day. Yesterday I was surprised how much I could hear the diff on over run. I’ve never heard the original diff (although I’ve never really listened) and I knew this would be noisier as there are more contact points in there, however I was surprised at just how noisy it was. The diff comes with a label specifying mineral oil, but I had fully synthetic gear oil so went with that. It was noticeably thin at 75W90, but that’s what the LR manual specifies. I checked out Ashcrofts website and it does call out again that they don’t recommend synthetic oils, so I got hold of the requisite amount of mineral and swapped it out last night. It was noticeably more viscous.
Difference today is very noticeable, much less noise which is great. It is barely perceptible. Good news. I have never been wanting for grip in the landy, or so I thought. I don’t drive fast, however in the wet this morning the car felt incredibly planted. I do the same route each day to work and have never noticed a lack of grip so it was odd to notice so more more grip on the wet. The drive out of a wet corner felt incredibly stable with grip to spare. First impressions, very impressed indeed. |

Good to hear feed back on the ATB's! And plans for M57/LS3....
I don't really know why but I really want to fit ATB's, just like the idea of added traction particulary on wet grass. If you fit central ATB can you still manually lock it or not? I believe so, but don’t take my word for it! There is an FAQ section on the website that answers most queries. I have spoken to Dave via email who has been incredibly helpful speccing up the drive line.

Yes you can still manually lock the centre diff and when it is open and the ATB is free to do its thing. One of the things I have always noticed in the 110 (especially when laden or with a trailer) is that when pulling off up hill or in the wet or navigating tight switchbacks the front wheels have the tendency to lose grip. I have wondered whether the ATB in the LT230 would prevent this?! This would be my reason for purchasing the ATBs. Plus I do not have traction control so they'd do a fair job at taking over that role too. If only I had a garage (or a shed for that matter) with which I could build the diffs with ATBs... |

Good to hear that all is good so far with your first impressions of the ATB Co1 1996 Golf Blue 300Tdi 110 Pick up.

Sorry for the daft question as I am about to put front old man emu adventure front shocks on the back of my 90 for comfort for the kids as the side facing seats don't give any comfort what so ever so trying to give a bit Not Range rover comfort I know but what are the comfort springs and what do you think of them ie have they made a difference and are they worth the money
Thanks. |

Mine are standard height comfort springs from Eibach, bought via alive tuning. Paired with the fox shocks they very much make a difference v’s stock. Would recommend but it depends what type of driving you do. For fast road I would use Bilstien dampers instead (I had these for a few years) but for a comfortable ride and better off road grip go for the Fox. No experience of OME.
