Starter the air con retrofit today. Great service from Cool Air Logan. Bought from them direct so that I could get tech support. It’s not a job for the feign hearted! Today I got the dash out, heater box out, AC evaporator installed, heater box back and then started wrestling with the heater matrix pipes. In true LR fashion there is no room at all. After a lot of swearing I got the top one on, but the bottom one has beaten me so far, so it’s time for beer.

Got a fair chunk more done today, but not really that much to show! Popped to Pirtek this morning to get some better clamps for the heater matrix and that worked a treat. Popped to see Pete Bell and picked up a viscous fan tool. Finished off all the internal wiring and then gave the bulkhead a good seeing to with ACF50. It didn’t really need it, there was no rust but I did confirm what I already guessed: the window to bulkhead seal needs doing.
Got everything reassembled except for the dash which I’ll do in the morning. |

Interior is now complete, compressor is fitted and condenser is ready to go in. For anyone planning on doing this to a 2.2, it calls for power from a 10A fuse and a 20A fuse from the fuse box. The 10A fuse way is in the fuse box but there was nothing for a 20. I repurposed a spare way that would have been for ABS had I had it. Anyway, if you read the instructions right to the last page, it tells you that the 20A fuse is under the seat box and not in the same fuse box as the 10 A fuse. Why they don’t put this info in the corresponding page of the instructions I don’t know. I read after I had completed putting the interior back together

Good work Co1. It looks somewhat challenging ? Not sure I[m brave enough for that install, I may just stick to opening the windows !!

Finished off the plumbing and wiring today, so it’s ready for gassing up. This certainly isn’t a job for the feint hearted, but it is achievable. There is nothing overly technical, it just looks daunting from the outset.
It’s not booked in until the 27th, but I’ll apologise in advance because as soon as that gas goes in you can guarantee that will be it for the warm weather this year!! |

New Ashcroft rear ATB diff ordered today. The forms the start of a long term project uprating the transmission that will likely end in an LS3/LTA or an M57. The latter end of the project is a few years away yet, hence no decision for a while.
