Hello guys,
I've done plenty of water crossing upto my 110 300tdi snorkel fitted bonette but so far no issues apart from diff oil change. Sometime water came inside on my toes too!! Now i am planing to sell my 300 and get a brand new puma tdci 110 sw. But afraid to do the same with the newbie due to electronics. I dont do water crossing that often but sometime I have to do. Guys pls tell me your experience with off roading on water with the puma tdci. Thanks alot! |

Hi, the current raised air intake offered by LR and Mantec Isn't sealed as standard but it can be done, AndrewS has pictures of how to do it. Alternatively you can search for the safari snorkle fitting guide on google, it has more pictures/ info. I have done this in a LRE one,
Click image to enlarge I would buy a decent radiator cover if you are planing to do it and don't know the exact depth Jack Admin note: this post has had its images recovered from a money grabbing photo hosting site and reinstated |

Thanks for the comments and a great pic too! How about other electronic parts like ECU and stuff. Do I need to raise them? Cheers!

No because you're going to seal the underseat boxes where the cables enter

Find a bridge Seriously you need to be meticulous with the sealing up as Mike says, if you intend wading in water above the floor. It's ok when you're moving but when you get stuck and the drivers seat box leaks you could be in trouble.
Just remember, if the pub was the other side of that deep ford, the alternative route is 15 miles and it's quarter to eleven. You'd be getting the drinks in whilst I went round Original Member Pie n Pea Club. 110 HCPU Tipper |

Puma ECU isn't in the seat box. It is under the bonnet on the firewall up behind the engine. (If you end up submerging it you are going to be more worried about the water around your chest!!!).
I would do all the sealing anyway (Seat boxes and intake) and a radiator grill cover would be a good idea . There are no reasons why you will have problems as long as the follow the above Glyn |

All the plugs in the ECU have seal, don't they protect from water? |

The ECU is heavy splash resistant, i.e. spray jet proof. On a Puma it really is not the problem.. on the TD5 is was. The fuse box on the puma is the problem. Jack |

No engine problems - I kept the speed and momentum right to give a good bow wave and the only problem was wet carpets that took a week to dry out in the lounge. John
