Brendan was fairly positive about the last one. However, Leeds seems to have left the forum?

Thanks, they say they have sold more tickets than this time last year and have been featured in the LR mags etc plus a number of traders have booked.
Hopefully someone on here can confirm Kelburn is as good as it looks? |

Well I found Defenderjam to be a waste of time. Highlight of the day was seeing Barbara from Overlander 4x4 2014 110 2.2TDCi XS Station wagon

have to say it was totally ! nothing to do with the weather. but there was nothing going on, no structure or timetable, about 3 or 4 stalls.
i got my ticket for free from a fellow forum member who couldnt make it but i would be raging if i spent £15 on it. |

Went today with the missus absolutely abysmal, nothing there except a young fella playing music far to loud and Defenders wizzing around everywhere to fast IMO.
£15 each for a 10 minute walk around was far to expensive, should have charged less for entry then extra for use of off-road course. 04' 90 Td5 CSW.. |

Well, by all accounts, this Defenderjam was pretty poor. The main complaint from those who had been before was the shortage of trade stands, the lack of proximity and quality of the off road session, the premises for the disco, lack of live band, lack of structure/timetable.
The weather must have played a part though, there was a yellow warning for rain - it rained all Friday afternoon and night, it was still raining at 8.30am Saturday. The view from the 'van Saturday am Click image to enlarge There must have been a few exhibitors that pulled out. One of the main roads to the south was shut because the loch flooded. The exhibitors that came were squeezed into a long, narrow car park, as the field was too wet/soft. The weather improved a bit through the day and there seemed to be a reasonable attendance. I have to admit, it didn't take long to look around the exhibitors and apart from some pre ordered items from 4x4 Overland, I didn't find anything to splash out on. Disappointing there were no auto jumble stalls... After driving round the estate road loop (the green laning), I spent a bit of time looking at the vehicles on the campsite and car park, including these two from Germany Click image to enlarge Some things had more of a curiosity factor Click image to enlarge To be honest, I just enjoyed looking at the variety of vehicles there and all the personal modifications folk do. Click image to enlarge And just talking Land Rovers to the folk there. Fortunately, the sun eventually came out and the Kelburn Estate had some interesting things for the family, we spent a fair bit of time in there secret forest- great for our 9 year old Click image to enlarge I hope there is another Defenderjam next year, but I fear the organisers have taken a battering this time. Better aerodynamics
With the above comments, lack of trade stands, I wonder if Peterborough will be as good? Might not get there this year as Mrs Rashers is under the weather. |

I was there, and also met up with McGeordie again (good to see you mate!)
Spent some time talking to Barbara and Brendan, always a pleasure, and a few other interesting chaps for a blather. Agree that the event was a bit of a wash-out sadly. Apparently a few Exhibitors backed-out last minute because of the forecast. The early-evening music was good (live band) but the "Disco" was awful. Whilst the Castle is interesting, the camping field was a boggy mess, and on quiet a slope! Not great, A bit of extra sunshine would have made all the difference Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Defender "Puma" 2.4 110 County Utility (possibly the last of the 2.4's) |

Thanks Martin, good to see you again, I agree with others, the weather was really bad, particularly through Friday night and into Sat morning. and that without doubt put people off and a dampner on things
I have been to previous years Jam's and enjoyed them, thinking back, there wasn't many exhibitors at those either, so the show element wasn't a decider, on going back for me personally. As doublea mentioned, I enjoy looking at other peoples vehicles and mods they have undertaken, catching up with friends and meeting some new ones - good to meet you, doublea The problem for me, was in past years I have enjoyed doing that in dry and sunny weather...this year it wasn't as much fun as the majority tried to stay out of the wind and rain. They look to me like the standard utility company chequer plate pack, rather brutal in the aesthetic department compared to the softer conventional weekend warrior style. |
