Depends how remote you plan to go- and who you plan to go with!
one thing not mentioned so far.....spare tophose- the TD5 ones are S**te and the plastic threaded insert has a habit of coming out. For a big trip to Romania whee we knew that spares provision was poor with 2 superficially similar TD5 defenders we had between us F&R shock Wheel bearings Prop UJs Drive flange (pair) CV Pair of half shafts Various Bulbs/fuses/relays/wire Top hose and a selection of oddments of other sized hose Crank sensor Inner tubes Puncture repair kit Various hose clips/nuts/bolts Couple of bits of aluminum sheet Injector seals. Selection of bushes. In the three and a bit weeks and many, many thousands of miles between the 2 cars we had an air con compressor failure, a wheel bearing required tweaking, a snapped rear shock, a minor electrical issue with headlights, a weepy brake caliper- then sadly a Head Gasket failure put an end to our trip. This was on 2 well maintained, regularly serviced vehicles. Chris |
