The lock as modified and fitted by Box of Tricks is made for the standard spare wheel carrier as fitted to Defender back doors. The integrity of the lock relies on there being no access to the rear cavity of the wheel when it is fitted to the carrier.
The swing away carrier shown has a support plate that achieves this. Sadly the Natatanenga carrier has a small support plate so allowing access for hacksaws etc to cut screwed rod. It would depend on what gap is left btween the wheel and the door when the door is closed.
Just a thought! After looking at the modified lock it should be possible to shroud the exposed screwed rod however long with a steel tube from the base of the reciever to the face of the support plate.

Thanks FoggyDave,That is interesting . I will have a look at that.
I suspect I am putting myself at risk wandering around carparks looking at other peoples ideas. Only one person challenged me and when I explained my reasons he was happy to fully explain the strengths and weaknesses of his. No one I have come across has the Nakatanenga wheel carrier , so it would have been nice if they could also manufacture a lock. 1983 Series 3 Pick up in Marine Blue

I modified it with a longer piece of threaded bar to fit wheel carrier. Before I just had it locking spare to wheel holder on the rear door.

The lock sits in the central hub recess of the wheel nicely. The guy who makes them is spot on. Really helpful.

£52 off eBay. Sorry can’t find a direct link on my mobile.

Caveat emptor ......just purchased one of these Big Cry Big Cry its only use is that of a visual deterrent the lock is cheap and i picked it in 10 seconds(I aint no locksmith) i have only posted this on an open forum to warn others as it is a very smart looking piece of kit ...but it is useless! in function but nice to look at it.

I followed SuliSuli' s advice and bought what he recommended. Seems pretty good, but a bit pricey £79 for a couple of circular pieces of metal sprayed black and a padlock. Be interested to see how it weathers ? 1983 Series 3 Pick up in Marine Blue

These devices including pedal locks and steering wheel locks are only as good as the locks themselves....i think with the sali option you were given the oprtion to source the lock part yourself as you can pay for good anti pick locks.

Question
If the wheel is fitted to a Mantec type wheel carrier
Cant the carrier simply be unbolted and stolen along with the wheel and its lock ?

On my wheel carrier you have to remove the wheel before you get access to the bolts to remove the carrier. As with everything if they are going to steal it there is very little you ca do to stop a cordless angle grinder. For me it’s a deterrent to stop someone just undoing the wheel nuts when I’m out and about. I just tried to pick the lock on mine and failed so figured I’m not suited to a life of crime.

The wheel is hung on a Nakatanenga Wheel carrier. Which I guess could be unbolted, but only with a lot of difficulty as the wheel covers some of the fixings and now, with luck the wheel a cannot be removed ?
How far can you take this security business? The next move is sell the car and keep the wheel hanger and spare Rolling with laughter 1983 Series 3 Pick up in Marine Blue

Mine has weathered very well, visually it’s a smart looking security option which was why I chose it over putting a length of chain thru my spare wheel. Any security layer has to help, when parking I try and reverse park next to a wall but I don’t go out of my way to find a spot that offers that, just use a bit of common sense when I can which isn’t always Rolling with laughter 2015 HT XS 90
